Abstract

Professionalism is a process endowed with interpretations and meanings. It is part of an exciting process of development, needing creative and propositive intervention strategies. Thinking about this course and the tools available to achieve it, within the scope of public social policies, this article presents the report of an experienced project that occurs between 2016 and 2017, in a territory marked by social vulnerability. The experience occurs in Dr. Luís Spina neighborhood, in Barretos / SP, where the systematic integration between public health and social assistance was considered successful in that period and reiterated the importance of intersectoriality. These results impacted both the professional teams and the population. The meetings between professionals of the Family Health Strategy and the Reference Center for Social Assistance enabled exchanges of experience and broader perspectives, from the point of view of the social determinants of health and social work with families. Once again, the gap was recognized in the present time, in a scenario where professional performance goes through difficulties and challenges that are multifaceted, but based on possibilities
