Diálogo sobre infecções sexualmente transmissíveis com trabalhadores da construção civil: um relato de experiência

INTRODUCTION: Sexually transmitted infections correspond to infections caused by viruses, bacteria or other microorganisms, which are transmitted mainly through sexual contact, whether oral, vaginal or anal, without using a condom, with an infected person. Barretos is the second largest city in the interior of São Paulo with people infected by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). EXPERIENCE REPORT: A dynamic was developed with the employees of the construction company Pacaembu, in which a box with several questions related to sexually transmitted infections passed among the workers, to the sound of music. When the sound stopped, the person with the box removed a question and tried to answer it. Soon after, the discussion mediators explained about the subject with the help of a datashow containing several illustrative images of the diseases and their consequences. DISCUSSION: The activity allowed a dynamic approach on the subject, making it possible to understand that there are gaps in the prevention and treatment of these infections among the residents of these communities. FINAL CONCLUSION: In the current Brazilian situation, it is extremely important to discuss with the population about sexuality and sexually transmitted infections and their forms of contagion, prevention and treatment. The municipal health system has a good structure to welcome, carry out and advise all patients who arrive at health facilities for investigation.
