Abstract

Introduction: There is an intense debate about including the Human Sciences in medical education.  The choice of the themes addressed, how they would be associated with the so-called conventional curriculum, focused essentially on the biomedical dimension, in addition to what would be the teaching methodologies to be implemented, constitute the core of the theoretical discussions, which ends up opening space for the possibility of describing experiences in the medical schools themselves. Experience report: The model of application of Human Sciences in the Barretos School of Health Sciences Dr. Paulo Prata - FACISB, Barretos, SP, Brazil is described.  Discussion: The insertion of humanities contents is evidenced as a continuous process, which should be indistinct and inseparable from traditional training, and which can – and should – be constantly improved. Conclusion: FACISB has established a model of application of the Human Sciences that has linked the concepts arising from it to the contents of the so-called conventional training. The integration of the themes with other curricular units, as well as the joint participation of humanities professors, medical professors, and/or guests from the community have been fundamental, concomitantly with the use of active learning and evaluation methodologies with critical-reflective essay activities.
